Kanwal Public School has one support class catering for students whose needs cannot be adequately met in regular classroom settings. The class consists of seven students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our support class provides an intensive educational environment that maximises students' social and emotional learning, as well as developing academic, life and vocational skills. Our class promotes a safe, respectful and responsible learning environment where students are provided with challenging and engaging educational opportunities that are student-centered and interest based.
K-6 Purple fosters student's self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, social skills and motivation through in-depth emotional literacy programs.
A range of programs are used to ensure students will be able to develop necessary skills and identify goals that best suit their learning needs. Students strive toward reaching the goals in their Individual Learning Programs that focus on three domain areas; Social, Learning and Wellbeing.
Students participate in weekly community access excursions to consolidate learning and demonstrate skills learnt within the classroom environment within the wider community.
K-6 Purple works closely with mainstream staff on individual and whole class integration to further encourage student self-regulation.
