Numeracy Enrichment Day at Gorokan High School
On the 26th of October, Years 5 and 6 had a Numeracy day at Gorokan High School. It was a day dedicated to provide students with an engaging opportunity to see how numeracy can be applied in real life situations.
First of all we did orienteering and learnt how to use a compass. We had to answer mathematical questions, which were taped to places around the oval. We used the compass to find them, and the answers from the questions led us to the next place.
After that we did an activity in the hall called World of Maths. There were multiple stations set up around the hall for us to complete, such as the peripheral vision test, pie charts and so much more!
After a delicious sausage sizzle we got to do a fun trivia activity where we had a small logo that the teacher scanned, giving the teacher our team’s answers. The questions were math based and they were very fun to figure out.
We had an awesome day learning about how maths can be fun. Thank you to Gorokan High and the teachers for having us!
